Stumpy the Tail-less Gray Whale

On April 18th our guide Oren Lawson came across a Gray Whale migrating up the coast without a tail. We have nicknamed this Gray, ‘Stumpy’. Stumpy seems to have adapted by swimming laterally like a fish. He has pectoral fins but zero tail. It must have taken incredible effort to adapt. We have put the word out down the coast to see if any other guides have come across this whale and will keep you posted! Local Tofino tour guide, Howie Tom had his camera on board and managed to capture this image!
